PRESS RELEASE
9 December – International Anti-Corruption Day: Integrity in Action – Strategic Cooperation between CIF and Cyprus Police
On the occasion of International Anti-Corruption Day, the Cyprus Police and the Cyprus Integrity Forum (CIF) organized a special event on 9 December 2025 to highlight the importance of transparency, integrity, and responsible action within the Force.
Within the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation for the promotion of integrity, accountability, and professional ethics, the Police and CIF completed two targeted workshops on 7 and 22 November 2025.
CIF President, Marios Skandalis, emphasized that corruption affects not only institutions but also lives, decisions, rights, and the credibility of the state in the eyes of citizens. The Police constitute one of the key mechanisms for strengthening legality and public trust in society. Integrity is not a theoretical concept but a daily practice.
The workshops identified key challenges, including: gray areas in procedures and informal practices, pressures from both the professional and social environment, the need for clear guidance, and the necessary recognition of the work of Force members.
Strategic priorities include:
- Transparent and unified procedures,
- Zero tolerance for “minor violations,”
- Training on conflicts of interest,
- Strengthening internal control and reporting mechanisms,
- Supporting those who act with integrity.
The Cyprus Police and CIF reaffirm their commitment to continuously enhance transparency and public trust, aiming to make integrity a daily practice rather than a theoretical concept.
